How your support is changing lives in our community!
In early 2024, Namakula Grace, a 23-year old mother from our village, arrived at the community maternal health Centre during a difficult labour. Like many others, she had walked several kilometres to reach help, and the facility was struggling without clean water.
Thanks to our emergency support and local volunteers, Grace gave birth safely to a healthy baby girl. Later that year, through generous donations, we were able to drill a borehole to provide the Centre with access to clean water-improving hygiene and saving lives.
"I thought I might lose my baby because of the conditions, but I was helped in time. Now, I know my next child will be born in a better place."-Grace, Mother of Two.
Before 2023, Kato Daniel, a Primary Five pupil at our community-founded Primary School, used to sit on the dusty floor during lessons. With no furniture, concentration was difficult, and performance was low. Through a school furniture campaign, we managed to provide desks for all upper classes.
Daniel's grades improved dramatically, and he is now among the top 3 students in his class. His dream is to become a science teacher and give back to his village.
"Sitting on a real desk changed how I learn. I feel important. I want to help other children learn, too."-Daniel, 12 years old.
Naome, a teenage girl from Buwere Parish, dropped out of school due to financial hardship. With no job and few opportunities, she faced pressure to marry early. In 2024, she joined our tailoring and craft-making training under the Girls Empowerment Programme.
Today, she makes reusable sanitary pads and handmade bags, which she sells locally. Naome now earns an income and is saving to return to school and complete her education.
"I thought my life was over, but I now have a skill. I am respected, I am independent, and I can even help my mother at home."-Naome, Age 17.
