Nutrition Support for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children.

Because no child should learn on an empty stomach.

Meet Racheal, James and their youngest little brother, Jonathan. This is an orphaned, child headed family

In Buwere community, many orphaned and vulnerable children go to school hungry. Some come from families who cannot afford a daily meal, while others are cared for by elderly guardians who struggle to provide even the most basic necessities.

Hunger  not only weakens their bodies-it also robs them of the focus and energy needed to learn, grow and dream.

At Buwere Community Development and Child Support Organisation, we run a Nutrition Support Program designed to give these children the strength o thrive in and out of the classroom.

What the Program Provides.

  • Daily Nutritious Meals
  • We provide at least one balanced meal per day to the most at-risk children attending our community-founded Primary School.
  • Supplementary Food Packages
  • During school holidays or emergencies, we supply food baskets to child-headed households and the most vulnerable families.
  • Nutrition Education.
  • We teach both children and caregivers the basics of hygiene, food safety, and healthy eating using locally available foods.
  • Community Partnerships.
  • We work with local farmers, volunteers and well-wishers to source fresh produce and ensure sustainability.

Why It Matters

  • Hungry children are 3x more likely to drop out of school.
  • Malnutrition weakens the immune system, increasing the risk of disease and developmental delays.
  • A single daily meal can improve school attendance, participation, and performance.

"A child with a full stomach is a child with hope."
