In our community-founded Primary school, many pupils attend class sitting on the floor or on makeshift benches. For some, the "desk" is simply their lap, and lessons are written in exercise books balanced on their knees.
This is not just uncomfortable-it affects concentration, handwriting, and a child's overall dignity and learning experience.
Vulnerable pupils, many of them orphans or from extremely poor households, face enough challenges without the added burden of learning without proper seating.
At Buwere Community Development and Child Support Organisation, we believe every child has a right to learn in a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment. That's why we started the Classroom Furniture for Vulnerable Pupils Project-to equip our school with durable desks and chairs that will serve generations of learners.
What the Project Involves
- Desks and Chairs for Pupils
- Providing sturdy, well-made desks and chairs to replace the floor seating and broken furniture currently in use.
- Teacher Tables and Chairs
- Equipping classrooms with proper teacher workstations to improve organisation and teaching.
- Locally Made Furniture
- Partnering with local carpenters to produce furniture-supporting both education and the local economy.
- Inclusive Design
- Ensuring the furniture accommodates younger pupils and those with special needs.

Our Goal
We aim to provide 50 new desks, each seating three pupils, and 10 teacher tables and chairs. This will give every child a proper place to sit and learn.
How You Can Help
- EUR5/ $5 - Buys nails, screws or vanish for a desk.
- EUR15/ $15 - Covers wood for one desk seat.
- EUR50/ $50 - Fully funds one complete desk for 3 pupils.
- EUR150/ $150 - Furnishes a classroom with three desks.
